A journey of self discovery through connection to ourselves and the natural world around us.
Koanga (spring) is a time for renewal, growth and expansion.
The second in our series of workshops is delivered to you in the first month of koanga (spring). This is a time for renewal growth and expansion. We and the ngahere (bush) have rested over takurua (winter) and now is the time to start to prepare for the seven phases of raumati (summer). Each phase brings gifts from Te waonui a Tane. The berries ripen and flowers bloom and the rakau appear to have a glow.
Koanga will see us detox from the winter months, wairua, hinengaro, tinana (sppirit, mind and body)shedding the layers of that which no longer serves us making space for new growth and expansion.
This wananga will be an introductory level to Traditional Maori bodywork -Mirimiri/Romiromi. It will give you insights to your own personal health and wellbeing through the art and practice of Mirimiri and Romiromi.
Over the weekend you will be introduced to/ but not limited too:
The whakapapa of Mirimiri and Romiromi, the whakapapa of trauma or dis-ease within our own bodies. Safe and best practice. You will learn specific takutaku for the use in this traditional bodywork art form. An introduction to haemata (pressure points) and learn different ways we can release and restore balance within the physical, spiritual and psychological bodies. We will be exploring our own intuition, how to scan and read the body through two different pathways. We will also explore the use of kawakawa in our own healing journey with some relaxation and detoxification techniques taught.
This wananga is open to everyone, no previous knowledge required. I invite you to come and share space with myself and my amazing team. Open hearts and open minds. We are in the business of transformation, supporting and teaching you some of the tools for your own healing journey. Cant wait to meet you, Mauri ki te mauri, kanohi ki te kanohi.
Please note: An introductory level weekend does not mean you are now a qualified practitioner and can go out and start working on people. My first responsibility is that you understand this. The second is for myself and my team to hold you in a safe learning environment.
Who is your facilitator: Awhina Motutere – these wananga are unique courses based on NZ natives and indigenous practices, traditional knowledge and awhina’s lifetimes of experience in the field. A qualified medical herbalist and Naturopath, indigenous teachings remain the core aspect of her approach.
Where: Location of events are TBC and are held in Tauranga Moana and the surrounding area. At confirmation of your booking, you will be sent directions and instructions of what to bring for the weekend.
